Creating an Interest Group

  • There are two types of Group in InTouch with Communities:
  • Standard Groups are how you group your contacts into different areas. You can then target these contacts with specific email campaigns.
  • Interest Groups are a type of group for your website visitors to receive a newsletter tailored to their interests. 
  • When users sign up to receive a newsletter on your website, they will be able to select which Interest Groups they want to join. You can then create specific newsletters for those Interest Groups. 
  • You can also update Interest Groups when a new Blog post of News item is posted on your website with an Email notification.
  • For this guide, we are going to create an Interest Group called News Updates. 
  • Click the Website button on the left hand menu.

  • You will be presented with the Site Details tab.
  • Scroll down to the Email Newsletter Interest Groups section, enter 'News Updates' into the text field and click the red Add button.

  • Now we are going to put our uploaded contacts into the Interest Group so that we can Email them all at once.
  • To do so, we will first have to create a Report of all of the contacts we have uploaded. This saves time so we don't have to add them all manually, one by one!
  • Click the Reporting button on the left hand menu.

  • Here you can design your own specific reports or select from standard ones. We want to find all of our contacts who don't have a group and there is already a report set up to do that.
  • Click the Standard Reports tab at the top.

  • Scroll down to the Groups section reports and choose Contacts not joined to a group.
  • As we are just starting out, it will show us the contacts we uploaded earlier.

  • You will see the report featuring all of the contacts we uploaded. Click the red Select All button so that they are all ready to be added.

  • Scroll down to view the options. In the drop down menu next to the grey button labelled Add Selected to Existing Group, Find News Updates and select it. Then click the button and the group will be created.
